Hallelujah!

So the good news I alluded to last week? Finally announced today.
I HAVE A NEW JOB!
Well, really, it’s the same job, just at a different place. See, I have worked for Company A for 7.5 years, but all of my work is done for Organization B. Company A is a public company. Organization B is a not-for-profit 503(c). Which do you think is a better fit for me? Yeah. When I started with Company A, my dad said, “Cath, you aren’t cut out for Corporate America.” Of course he was right, but the money was hard to pass up, since I had been working as a graphic designer.
After nearly 8 years of what I fondly call corporate whoredom, I will be starting with Organization B at the beginning of May. I am beyond thankful and thrilled. My salary will stay the same but I don’t even care! I am just grateful to have a job! I knew that I would eventually either get an offer letter from them or a severance letter from the current employer. I’m glad that it turned out to be the former, because I know that won’t be the case for everyone.
As expected, there was some awkwardness. One of the managers was pissed that she wasn’t informed before an e-mail went out today. What the hell! I don’t report to her. She spent most of the morning in her office, door closed, talking on the phone. By mid-afternoon, she finally calmed down and remembered her manners, sending out a congratulatory e-mail.
I’ve worked with probably a quarter of the people at Organization B, so I won’t be walking into a totally unfamiliar place. Now just to get through the rest of the month …
YAY & MANY congrats!!
